本日、アマゾンで買った辞典です。１７３ページ、それほど大きい辞典ではありませんが、方言学の学術用語の説明がずらりと書かれていました。2019/4/20第一刷にて、方言学の学術書にしては極めて新しい本です。先ほど斜め読みしてみまたが、半数については既に理解していましたが(ここ)、ざっと半数の言葉は初めて聞くような言葉でした。これでやっと私も方言学に仲間入りです。傑作なのが英日対照表が巻末にあった事。次いでですから、全てをお披露目しましょう。ざっと数割は高校英文法で使うような言葉です。数パーセントは方言学というよりは一般英語といってもよい単語が含まれています。
以上は平凡なレビューになりましょう。さて本題です。一部の単語、例えば godanka 五段化、yotsugana 四つ仮名、kaigo 開合 などの単語ですが、私には正気の沙汰とは考えられません。英訳に関してはある外国人の監修が入っていますが、それにしてもね、今後、相当に改定を重ねないと本物にはならないでしょう。
